Whispering

This work consisted of three parts: the collaboration, the publication project and the performance.

They made the booklet publication together with the designer Marc Hollenstein. The publication was a collaboration project between the MFA Dutch Art Institute, Werkplaats Typografie and the artist/curator Delphine Bedel.

For half a year they communicated with the designer Marc H. without consulting each other about the content of their future publication. It was a kind of blind date, in which Marc was the link between the two of them and their ideas. He combined the letters, intimate writings, photos (of their four performances in 2008) and texts (from the writers Jovana Stokić and Samira Borovik) in one unique and compact entity.

The publication was finally arranged as one booklet with two contents. It was published in two different ways: as Marina's booklet that has hidden pages of Buba’s booklet and vice versa. In order to have a complete overview of the publication, one needs to cut the upper side of each page.

In the final performance/publication presentation they invited the audience to sit on a chair in between the two of them or they randomly chose the person who will participate. They slowly whispered on both ears of the spectator the intimate content of their blind correspondence.

“Until the final performance we didn’t knew what the other one has done. This time we invited the third person to join this correspondence and to dive in to our intimate world.”
